Derek Pihl is the Executive Director of Pharmacy Services at Salina Family Healthcare Center (SFHC). SFHC is an FQHC located in Salina, Kansas. Derek has worked at SFHC since early 2014. He is responsible for pharmacy services and processes throughout the organization including assisting with in-house pharmacy, clinical pharmacy services, and 340B Drug Pricing Program management and compliance. Derek also assists pharmacy staff with their ability to serve the patients of SFHC by regularly evaluating and modifying pharmacy processes as well as looking for ways to expand pharmacy services and increase patient access to care including prescription drugs. In addition to his internal duties, Derek serves as an advocate for SFHC and patient interests outside the organization.
Derek is a life-long resident of central Kansas and has a passion for helping the people of that area. He graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 2005 where he was president of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) student chapter. Derek remains active in state and national pharmacy organizations including serving as co-chair of the Apexus FQHC 340B Advisory Council. He is a past speaker at the 2019 340B Winter Coalition Conference and is actively working with the Kansas primary care association, Community Care Network of Kansas (CCNK), on 340B related issues.
