Bio

Jon (he/him) currently serves as Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer for Choptank Community Health System, the largest primary care and dental provider on Maryland's Eastern Shore, with six (6) federally qualified health centers and over 40 school-based locations throughout the Talbot, Dorchester, and Caroline Counties. He also manages a robust, migratory agricultural worker health program, serving those in the vibrant farming and seafood industries along the Chesapeake Bay.

Prior to joining Choptank, he spent a decade serving America’s Veterans in the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA). He returned to Maryland in September 2019, after serving as the Director of the Greenville VA Health Care Center, where he led a team of 250, providing care for over 30,000 Veterans in a 13-county region of Eastern North Carolina. While in Greenville, he helped implement "VA Voices," an employee engagement and wellness program centered on empathy, understanding, and story telling.

Jon also served as a Senior Advisor for the VHA Office of Emergency Management in Washington, D.C. where he managed the daily operations of 100 field and headquarters staff, working tirelessly to ensure the continuity of healthcare operations throughout the VA’s 1,600 sites of care during hurricanes, disease outbreaks, wildfires, mass casualty events, floods and other incidents. In this role, he helped develop VA’s “Tiered Response Plan for High Consequence Emerging Infectious Disease Threats,” part of the National Pandemic Response Plan.

Jon is an avid backpacker, paddle-boarder, cyclist, and beekeeper. He also travels the country as a Paralympic Alpine Ski Coach and Adaptive Kayaking Instructor, coaching children, Veterans, and adults with disabilities to overcome physical obstacles and live active lives. He currently resides in Easton, Maryland with his wife (a Certified Nurse Midwife) and their three young children.
